A suspicious package found on the third floor of the five-floor University Town Center in Santa Cruz. The item was reported to police around 9 a.m., says the Mercury News.
Police evacuated all floors except the ground floor, as well as the back parking lot and x-rayed the suspicious black computer bag full of wires, determining it was ultimately harmless.
"I know it's a big of an inconvenience but we'd rather everyone be safe," Capt. Steve Clark said as the bomb squad investigated.
Clark added that a recent shooting rampage in Tucson on Saturday involving federal officials added to the extra care.
