TSA Adding 23 Screeners at SJC to Ease Security Waiting Times

As the summer travel season heats up, the Transportation Security Administration is aiming to hire an additional 23 full-time screeners at Mineta San Jose International Airport in order to reduce lengthy wait times.

TSA is also planning to hire another bomb-sniffing K9 unit to actively patrol the security checkpoints, which will allow passengers to keep their shoes on.

19,000 travelers are expected to travel through SJC on Friday and TSA recommends that all travelers arrive at least two hours early.

"We expect to see every Friday going forward into the summer to be typically Thanksgiving travel period," said Rosemary Barnes, an SJC spokeswoman.

Travelers looking to save some time are encouraged to sign up for TSA Pre-Check.
