TV Executives Rooting for Giants to Beat 49ers

TV insider says Giants-Patriots Super Bowl would be highest rated ever.

The national media may be starting to pick up on the story of the San Francisco 49ers but they may still be rooting for a New York Super Bowl.

A new report suggests that a Super Bowl not involving the 49ers, but instead the New York Giants squaring off against the New England Patriots, could be the highest rated big game in the history of the National Football League.

The game would be a rematch of the 2008 Super Bowl, when Eli Manning and the Giants shocked Tom Brady's perfect Patriots with a 17-14 victory.

Brad Adgate, a senior vice president of research at New York-based Horizon Media Inc., told Bloomberg that Giants and the Patriots would be able to draw in the casual fan.

But the 49ers and the Ravens may be a worthy opponent to the ratings hype. A Thanksgiving game between the two Harbaugh-led teams saw the highest ratings ever for a Thursday night game on the NFL Network.
