Teen Faked Kidnapping “For Sympathy”

False Amber Alert: Suisun City teen faked own kidnapping.

There goes the sympathy vote. Whatever was left of it.

A Suisun City teenager admitted to faking her own kidnapping, a scheme staged last week after she was found safe a day later in Vallejo.

After Christina Almanza, 17, vanished Thursday, she sent voice mails and text messages to her family saying she was being held against her will. Authorities dutifully issued an Amber Alert, and law enforcement from the Suisun City police up to the FBI and U.S. Marshal's Service joined in the search, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

At 1 p.m. Friday, officers found her at a home in Vallejo, where cops shot and killed a dog they found threatening.

Maybe it was the gunfire, maybe it was the guilt, or maybe it was the fact her ploy wasn't well thought-out, but Almanza admitted to cops it was all a joke.

She was arrested for filing a false police report then released to her parents. Hopefully they'll understand.
