The Fastest Network? One Carrier Dominates

Yes, we can hear you now.

Who's the fastest of them all?  When it comes to phone networks, there's no question.  At least, no question after the latest PCmag.com survey.

The dot com side of the well-known magazine tested phones from various networks, and say it's not even close:  Verizon dominates when it comes to speed.

The testers ran AT&T, MetroPCS, Cricket, Sprint (3G and 4G), T-Mobile, and Verizon 3G and 4G through 120,000 data points, to try and see which is the fastest for your hard-earned smartphone dollar.  When it comes to upload speeds, download speeds, audio and video streaming reliability, all were tested with similar (in this case, Android 2.2) software.  Because the focus was purely on speed, voice quality and dropped calls didn't make it into the survey.

The winner?  Almost across the country (the test results broke up into regions) is the Verizon 4G network.  In fact, in almost every big city, the Verizon 4G network cruised to victory.  The only other company mentioned in the results is AT&T; it took home the "rural" speed prize.  For you big city phone users, Verizon dominates, with 4G cited as the fastest carrier, bar none.

Speed, reliability, and consistency.  All things we want in our phones, and in our phone networks.  All owned, apparently, by Verizon.  Yes, apparently, we can hear you now.
