Thieves Pose As San Francisco Water Workers

City's Public Utilities Commission issues warning about crooks in disguise

San Francisco officials are warning the public to watch out for thieves posing as water workers.

People posed as San Francisco Public Utilities Commission workers in order to gain access to a Sunset District home, from which they then took cash and goods on Dec. 18, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

The burglars are still at large, but in the meantime, police and the PUC want to eliminate their MO.

Police and the PUC are reminding the public that no water worker will show up without an appointment, will never ask for money, and will always arrive to an appointment in official garb and in an official city vehicle.
