“Threatening Note” Found at San Jose's Sobrato Center

San Jose police descended on the Sobrato Center for Nonprofits in San Jose Wednesday morning after a suspicious bag with a "threatening note" were reported there.

A woman reported what turned out to be a suspicious looking bag and a "disturbing" note about 9:30 a.m. at 1400 Parkmoor Drive, police said.

Police said the note said something "bad" was in the bag, but wouldn't divulge the details.

The Santa Clara County bomb squad and San Jose police evacuated 70 people from the complex, which houses a variety of nonprofit organizations.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., employees were being let back into the building after the bomb squad determined the bag was not dangerous. Police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said authorities don't know who left the bag, or what the motive was.
