SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Three brothers from Northern California have been charged with operating an illegal website that showed bootleg versions of popular TV shows and movies.
The State Attorney General's Office says 26-year-old Hop Hoang and his brothers, 23-year-old Tony Hoang and 20-year-old Huynh Hoang, all of Fremont, were arraigned Thursday in an Alameda County courtroom on multiple counts each, including grand theft, conspiracy and receiving stolen property.
The brothers are accused of illegally streaming more than 1,000 TV shows and movies on the website, mediamp4.com., and other sites for more than 18 months.
Prosecutors say they earned about $150,000 through advertising revenue. Hop Hoang has pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Mike Thorman, declined to discuss specifics of the case on Friday.
Tony and Huynh Hoang are due back in court on June 18. They have not yet been assigned attorneys.
