Three Dead in Sunday Shootings in Oakland

Three people died in three separate homicides on Sunday.

Three people were killed -- and all three are victims of homicides -- in the span of less than 12 hours in Oakland on Sunday, according to police.

A man was shot while sitting inside a car in the 2400 block of 68th Avenue at 10:05 a.m. on Sunday, the Oakland Tribune reported. He died 30 minutes later at an area hospital. His name has not been released.

Six hours later, at 4:10 p.m. in East Oakland, police discovered a man in the 8900 block of International Boulevard suffering from a fatal gunshot wound, according to police. He died a short time later.

Finally, at 8:11 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired at 70th Avenue and Hawley Street. There they found a dead man who "had been shot at least one time," according to the Tribune.

The killings marked the 21st, 22nd and 23rd homicides of 2013. There were 27 homicides by this time last year.

There are no suspects and no arrests in any of the shootings at this time.

One more man was shot Sunday at 7 p.m. on Hillsdale Street, but he made his way to a hospital and survived, according to reports.
