Oakland Rapper Too $hort Launches Politics, Entertainment Podcast

The man who put Oakland on the international rap map is throwing his hat into the commentary ring with a new politics, entertainment and sports podcast.

The first episode of "Too $hort's Boombox" made its debut Wednesday on the Podcast One network. New episodes are expected weekly and will often include celebrity guests drawing from the Bay Area rap legend's extensive friends and contacts, as well as those in Podcast One's esoteric universe of reality, sports and talk personalities.

Knowing the rapper's flair for the raw and controversial, it could lead to some water cooler moments, though it's not exactly safe for work.

In the first episode, he welcomes longtime friend and colleague Ice Cube on the mic to balance light and serious fare. Among many topics that they touch on, they trade old groupie tales and comment on the current presidential election. Rapper and actor Ice Cube made headlines in August after staffers from Donald Trump's campaign took his words out of context to make it seem as though he was endorsing Trump for president. Ice Cube then responded publicly that he was not in support of the Republican contender.

"Always been rich," Ice Cube said of Trump on "Too $hort's Boombox." "He ain't never came from the bottom to the top."
