Heartbreaking Loss for Marquise Goodwin Hours Before 49ers' First Win

Marquise Goodwin wrote in a post on Instagram that he and his wife, Morgan, lost their baby boy due to complications during pregnancy

Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin played a football game just hours after he and his wife, Morgan, lost their baby boy due to complications during pregnancy, he revealed on Sunday evening.

"(We) had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4 a.m.," Goodwin wrote in a post on Instagram. "Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan.

The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family."

Goodwin somehow played Sunday and came through with an 83-yard touchdown reception. He also provided a huge block on tight end Garrett Celek’s 47-yard touchdown pass in the 49ers’ 31-21 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.

After Goodwin caught the deep pass from C.J. Beathard and avoided the tackle attempt of Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins, he blew a kiss to the sky before crossing the goal line. Then, Goodwin showed his emotion as he dropped to his knees in prayer while in the end zone before his teammates rushed to congratulate him.
