Transient Found Dead in Front of Napa Church

Napa police are investigating the death of a man who was found Monday morning in front of a church.

Napa police and fire department medics found the 55-year-old man unconscious around 8:25 a.m. in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church of Napa at 625 Randolph St., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Napa County sheriff's Capt. Steve Blower identified the man as Steven Michael Lloyd, 55, a Napa transient. An autopsy is scheduled this week.

Blower said Lloyd's friend dropped him off near the church about a half-hour before his body was found but returned to the scene. Lloyd was intoxicated when he was found, and he had a history of seizures.

Foul play is not suspected in Lloyd's death, Blower said.

Lloyd had previous alcohol-related contacts with police, including one on Dec. 6, according to Blower.
