Trio of A's Rookies Make History in Win Over White Sox

For the first time since 1914, three rookies all hit their first major league homers in the same game in the A's 10-2 win over the White Sox.

Matt Olson, Jaycob Brugman and Franklin Barreto all connected for their first home runs on Saturday, becoming the second trio of teammates to accomplish the feat in the same game.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the only other time it happened was in 1914 by Duke Kenworthy, Art Kruger and John Potts of the Kansas City Packers which played in the Federal League.

Olson got the action started with a two-run homer in the first inning. Brugman joined the party with a solo home run in the second. Barreto, making his major league debut, put the A's up 6-0 with a two-run shot in the third inning.

Olson wasn't done as he capped off the scoring in the seventh with his second homer of the game.

Fellow rookie Daniel Gossett held Chicago to five hits and two unearned runs over six innings. He walked just one and struck out five.
