Twins Rout A's After Three-Hour Rain Delay

After a nearly three-hour rain delay, the A's jumped out to a 1-0 lead. But the Twins scored seven straight and went on to win 11-4 Tuesday.

Marcus Semien got the scoring started in the second inning with his 18th home run of the season.

But the lead didn't last long, as Kurt Suzuki drove in a run with a ground out to first in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game 1-1.

The Twins took over from there. In the bottom of the fourth, Suzuki drove in Max Kepler with a single to left and came around to score on a double by Byron Buxton.

In the fifth, Kennys Vargas launched a two-run homer off Manaea and Kepler followed with a solo shot to put the Twins up 6-1.

With Manaea out of the game, the Twins tacked on a run against reliever Andrew Triggs in the sixth. Robbie Grossman singled to right to drive in Buxton to put Minnesota up 7-1.

The got three runs back in the top of the eighth when Danny Valencia hit his 12th home run of the season.

But Minnesota put the game out of reach in the bottom half of the inning. All-Star Eduardo Nunez drove in Suzuki with a single to right, and Miguel Sano killed the A's hopes with an opposite-field three-run homer to make the score 11-4 - the final score.

In five innings pitched Tuesday, Manaea allowed seven hits, six earned runs, three walks and struck out five. His record is now 3-5 and his ERA sits at 5.85 for the season.
