Twitter Drawing Followers to Mid-Market

Twitter isn't moving to 1355 Market St. until next year but the microblogging site is already attracting its followers.

The social media company's move to San Francisco's mid-Market area is just one part of a revitlization plan for the neighborhood.

Other companies have signed on or been rumored to moving to the area and now apartment real estate trust AvalonBay is in contract to buy a development site near Twitter's new headquarters.

The San Francisco Business Times reports that the group will begin building a 260-unit apartment complex at 55 Ninth St. next summer.

The location is across the street from Twitter's new headquarters.
