Two-Alarm Fire Burns at East Oakland Liquor Store: Fire Officials

Man with weapon reportedly barricaded himself inside and set store ablaze, police say

Police and firefighters late Tuesday night responded to a two-alarm fire at a liquor store in East Oakland where a man had barricaded himself inside the building, according to the Oakland Fire Department.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Seminary Avenue about 9:05 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a man with a weapon. A suspect was reportedly inside a liquor store throwing items and then allegedly set fire to the store, police said.

Firefighters were called to the scene about 9:15 p.m.

The fire was upgraded to a second alarm, according to fire officials.
