Two Die in San Jose Shooting

Three people were shot, two of them fatally, outside an apartment  building in San Jose Saturday night, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded to a reported shooting between two groups of  people in a parking lot outside an apartment building in the 300 block of San  Antonio Court at around 10:45 p.m., San Jose police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said.

Arriving officers found three shooting victims. Two men - a 27  year old and a 26 year old, both of San Jose - were pronounced dead at the  scene.

A third victim, a 19 year old female, also of San Jose, was taken  to a hospital to be treated and was later released.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting broke out  when two groups of people encountered each other and got into a verbal  altercation that turned violent in the parking lot.

It has not been determined if the shooting was gang-related, but  the possibility has not been ruled out, Lopez said.

Police are canvassing the area in search of witnesses and suspects  and are asking anyone with information to contact the San Jose Police  Department at (408) 277-5283.
