Friday was a day of ups and downs for a Bay Area woman whose U-Haul truck was stolen with some of her most treasured belongings inside.
Shawna Hynes packed up all her belongings this week for her move from San Francisco back to Oakland. She planned on putting the art, photos and personal items in storage while she looked for a place to live.
On Tuesday, she parked the truck at a friend’s house, but the next morning, it was gone.
"I didn’t have electronics in there or anything that would be worth anything to anyone else,” Hynes said. “This is the cruelest thing that you could do. You’re not ripping off the TV. This is someone’s entire – their photos, their very personal and sentimental things.”
Oakland police told Hynes on Friday the truck has been found and impounded. She is anxious to see whether her belongings are still inside.
In the meantime, she has posted everything on the website Stolen911.com.
