Union Square Clean-Up Continues Following Black Friday Ferguson Decision Protest

Police say 79 people were arrested during Friday's protest.

Workers at San Francisco's Union Square are still on edge following a Black Friday protest over the Ferguson grand jury decision that turned violent.

Several stores were damaged and protesters clashed with police during the demonstration.

Police on Monday said 79 people, which includes six juveniles, were arrested during the late Friday protest -- 70 percent of those arrested were not from San Francisco.

San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr said five officers were injured badly enough to need medical treatment, including an officer who needed stitches after a bottle was thrown in the open window of his patrol car and hit him in the head.

Union Square workers on Monday were still cleaning up the damage done when protesters targeted the shopping district late Friday night.

"They hit the window," said Diana Tang, Grace Jewelers manager. "They're crazy. They're young kids."

Employees at Grace Jewelers said they had to bring the security gate down to protect customers and keep protesters from coming into the store after their windows were smashed.

"They hurt a lot of people," said Kit Ma, a Grace Jewelers employee. "They hurt our business also during the holiday. It's sad, you know."
