Peeple, which was reported to be a people-rating site that has spawned a media backlash and the Twitter hashtag #YelpForHumans, has taken down the website and social media accounts associated with it.
According to Ars Technica, the website as well as the Twitter and Facebook pages were removed on Monday.
When the site was live in beta form, it was described as a "positivity app" that allows users to rate their personal or professional experiences with other humans.
The Washington Post described the site as a place where "Everyone you know will be able to rate you ... whether you want them to or not."
Other people’s opinions of me have NOTHING AT ALL to do with me #peeple @peepleforpeople #yelpforhumans is the worst app idea EVER

"People do so much research when they buy a car or make those kinds of decisions," co-founder Julia Cordray told the publication. "Why not do the same kind of research on other aspects of your life?"
ICYMI: There an app called #Peeple in which you can rate/bash/bully someone you know. #YelpForHumans #YelpForPeople #WhyIsThisAThing
