VTA Bus Collides With Semi Truck

The crash took place at the end of the bus' route.

A Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority bus collided with a semi-truck Thursday morning at the end of the route, sending the operator to the hospital with minor injuries, a VTA spokeswoman said.

Around 4:15 a.m., a Route 22 bus at the end of the line heading back to the Chaboya Bus Facility collided with a semi-truck at South Seventh Street and Phelan Avenue, spokeswoman Brandi Childress said.

The bus yard is located at 2240 S. Seventh St.

The operator was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with minor injuries. No passengers were on the bus and no other injuries were reported from the crash, Childress said.

There was extensive damage to the coach and a tow truck was at the scene just before 6 a.m. to remove the damaged vehicle, Childress said.

There were no service impacts as the crash was at the end of the line. The route, which travels between the Palo Alto Transit Center and Eastridge Transit Center via El Camino, is on schedule today, she said.
