Vallejo Police Search For Who Killed Man, Pregnant Woman

Neighbors told NBC Bay Area that the woman was pregnant with twins, and expecting to deliver within the next two or three months.

Vallejo police on Friday continued to search for who killed a couple Thursday night: The victims were a couple, a 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman pregnant with twins.

The names of the pair were not immediately released by the coroner. NBC Bay Area learned from the parents of the victims that they are: Dashoun Jones and Ashley Mills.

Wilson Mills, Ashely's father, said his daughter was "Daddy's little girl," and a great mom to two other children, ages 2 and 8. He said she attended Solano Community College.

Mills and Jones were a couple, family said.

Sgt. Jeff Bassett said two men wearing hooded sweatshirts were seen running from the home in the 1000 block of Atherton Street about 9:15 p.m. after receiving reports of neighbors hearing gunshots.

Officers arrived moments later, police said, and found the man and woman dead at the scene.

Neighbors told NBC Bay Area that the woman was pregnant with twins, and expecting to deliver within the next two or three months.

One neighbor who didn't want to be identified said she and another neighbor were the first to respond. She saw the man on the floor, but didn't see the woman.

"Nobody deserves something like that," she said. "If somebody could do something like that to a woman who's pregnant...it's heartbreaking to me."

The pair are the city's 13th and 14th homicides this year.
