An unidentified woman claiming to have been sexually assaulted by former NBA MVP and current New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose discussed her civil case in San Francisco Thursday.
Wishing to remain anonymous, the victim addressed rape culture in the United States and voiced a stern opinion regarding the treatment of alleged rapists during a press conference.
"I want people to know that these type of people in this culture are not above the law, not above woman," the victim said.
She added that she doesn't want victims of sexual assault to ever be in fear of speaking out after suffering through what she says is the daily pain and suffering that comes along with such a crime.
Known as "Jane Doe," the victim has sued Rose, formerly of the Chicago Bulls, along with two of his friends for reportedly barging into her Los Angeles apartment in 2013 before she says the men sexually assaulted her, according to the victim's legal team.
The case was filed in Los Angeles back in September 2015 and will continue in October, but Rose and his legal team have denied the reported allegations.
"The salacious allegations of a woman who is now on a media tour − who also claims to not remember much from that night − do not change what transpired that eveing, which was consentual intercourse between Mr. Rose and the plaintiff," Mark Baute, Rose's lawyer, said.

National attention centered around sexual assaults has been highlighted by the case involving former Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner, who was convicted of felony sexual assault, but was released from prison after a three-month stay despite, at one time, facing a 14-year sentence.
