A water main break has shut down a main thoroughfare and a bilingual school in Emeryville Tuesday morning.
The break of the 8-inch cast-iron main was reported at San Pablo Avenue and 47th Street, EBMUD spokeswoman Andrea Pook said.
Emeryville police issued an alert shortly before 6:10 a.m. reporting that San Pablo Avenue is blocked between 45th and 53rd streets because of the water main break.
The Emeryville campus of the Escuela Bilingüe Internacional was also cancelled for the day.
Officials hoped to fix the problem by evening.
