Weed Spilled in Crash Boosted by Bystanders

A truck carrying a load of marijuana crashed in San Jose, spilling its contents onto the road, according to police.

Witnesses to the one-car crash then swooped in and helped themselves to the medicine pot.

Reports show that the police found a few bags left near the wreck and a loaded gun in the truck.

Police are looking for those who carted off the illicit cargo and for the truck's driver, who fled the scene as the passers-by boosted his cargo.

Marijuana is legal to consume in California if one has a medical-needs permit. It is still considered illegal by the federal government. This legal disparity is slowly being addressed in courts as well as in political decisions in various cities.

There is no evidence yet that this payload was destined for a medical marijuana dispensary, however.
