San Francisco Auto Show, Bay Area's Largest, Arrives on Thanksgiving

San Francisco International Car Show lays down a patch of rubber.

Get in the car -- it's hot rod time.

Billed as "the Bay Area's largest and most prestigious" gala of automobiles, the 56th Annual International Auto Show is rolling into Moscone Center from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2, according to reports.

SFGate.com delivers the exclusive scoop that 38 "major manufacturers" from around the world will display what they do best: cars.

"More than 600" four-wheeled driving machines will be for the looking, from Aston Martins and Bentleys all the way down to Kias, smart cars and Hondas.

Look for the Academy of Art's "Classic Car Collection," and shots to "Ride & Drive" vehicles made by General Motors. Yes, Buick still exists.

Among the cars on display were a new model Maserati that goes for $100,000.

There was also a Mercedes powered by fuel cells, and a Mustang GT that runs on 85-percent ethanol.

"I think we like to see what’s coming out, and we also like to see the classics in the special displays," Amy Genthner said. "They’re very cool and being able to sit in them and test them as far as hands on is very nice, without the salesman. I’m a salesman."

People can also skip Black Friday shopping to look at cars. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Thanksgiving until Sunday, and closes out at 8 p.m. Monday.

Tickets are $10.
