West Valley College in Saratoga Evacuated After “Credible” Threat

The campus of West Valley College in Saratoga was evacuated Wednesday morning after the community college received "a credible threat" to its security.

"The campus has received a credible threat" as of 11:40 a.m., administration officials reported on the college's website without describing the nature of the threat. "All students and faculty are being evacuated off campus," officials stated. "If you are not on campus yet, do not come to campus."

The college is located at 14000 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga.

Scott Ludwig, a spokesman for the college, said campus administrators and police received an anonymous note, which was left in the counseling office, from someone who said they overheard a conversation in the school parking lot about a threat to the campus. The author of the note said she overheard something about leaving explosives in a backpack, or several backpacks, around campus.

Campus police, Santa Clara County's Sheriff's Office, Stanford University Police, Campbell Police and Foothill-DeAnza College Police have are all responding to the incident. The combined forces are being used to sweep the campus for explosives.
