Bob Marley Tribute, Beat boxing and evil comedy

BOB MARLEY LIVES: Twenty years after Marley's death, Groundation, a local roots-reggae band from Sonoma, is committed to keeping his music alive. For the fifth year in a row, the band has started its annual tribute tour honoring Marley, whose birthday was Feb. 6. The show will happen at 9 p.m. at the Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community, 1317 San Pablo Ave. in Berkeley. Tickets can be had at the door for $22.

DROP THE BEAT: The Bay Area's best beat boxers, slam poets and more will show off their skills at 8:30 p.m. at the La Peña Cultural Center, 3105 Shattuck Ave. in Berkeley. "Speak the Music" will feature the Bronkar (beat box juggler) and the Genie (guitar/beat box looper) and the Constant Change, Eachbox, Syzygy, Monkstilo, Charles Moselle, Icebox, and more. Tickets are $8 with a student id and $10 for the rest of us.

TERRORISM IS NOT FUNNY The terrorist comic that is Maz Jobrani will play Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus Ave. in San Francisco at 8 p.m. Jobrani, who is not really a terrorist but likes to make fun of them, is a member of the "Axis of Evil Comedy Tour," which features some of the top Middle Eastern-American comics in the world.
