‘Wherever She Was, She Was Not in a Good Place:' Dog Thrown Out of Car on Hwy 101 Now Safe

A dog thrown out of a vehicle on Highway 101 is now in custody of Petaluma Animal Services. The agency is asking for the public’s help to find out who is responsible for treating the dog in this way.

The dog, a pit bull mix, was found Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., when a passerby saw her on the highway and contacted the animal shelter.

She was found severely malnourished and suffers from a broken left leg, pelvis and teeth – all injuries that point to her being thrown out of car, according to a post on the Petaluma Animal Services Facebook page.

Petaluma Animal Services posted a photo on Facebook of the dog, asking their followers to share it with the hashtag #PetalumaAnimalShelter in order to spread the word.

“Wherever she was, she was not in a good place,” Jeff Charter, Director from Petaluma Animal Services said when the dog was brought into the hospital.

No witnesses have come forward so far, and a reward is currently being negotiated.
