A woman was fatally struck by a Union Pacific train in Hayward Saturday afternoon, per Hayward Fire Department.
The accident took place at the intersection of Industrial Parkway and Pacific Street.
Firefighters responded to the tracks that cross Industrial Parkway at about 4:30 p.m., Hayward Battalion Chief Kevin Gotro said.
Gotro said the woman could not be revived when firefighters arrived on scene.
Hayward Fire believes that the woman was approximately 40 years old.
