Woman Dies After Hit-And-Run in San Jose: PD

A woman died in San Jose Thursday morning after a hit-and-run driver in a stolen car struck her, making her the city's 31st traffic fatality of 2015, police said.

Sgt. Eddie Chan said the 40-something woman was struck at 7:13 a.m. near Huran Drive and Clarice Drive after the driver drove up on the sidewalk and took off with out stopping.

When officers arrived, the woman was found suffering from injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver was nowhere to be found. He was described by witnesses as a man in his 20s with a shaved head, wearing red shorts and a black jacket.

But the suspect vehicle was found nearby, although it was empty, Chan said. He said the car was stolen "a couple of days ago."

This is San Jose's 14th traffic death involving a pedestrian.
