Mother and Daughter Die in Antioch Shooting

Two women died in a shooting in Antioch early Thursday morning, according to police.

Officers responded at 4:28 a.m. to a report of several shots being fired in the 4400 block of Delta Fair Boulevard and arrived to find the two victims who are mother and daughter, ages 55 and 28.

"It's something that doesn't happen on this street at all so being living here 6 years, it's very terrifying," said neighbor Elizabeth Maravilla.

One of the victims died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital where she died the following day.

"They were always pretty quiet yeah they did keep to themselves," said neighbor Mitch Barrett.

He says the 28-year-old has a little boy, who he often saw riding his tricycle.

"I just hope the kid's okay," Barrett said.

Neighbors say Child Protection Services picked up the little boy around 9 a.m. and it is unclear what he may have witnessed.

The Police Department's investigations bureau responded to the scene and officers collected evidence. No other details about the case were released by police.
