Woman Found Stabbed to Death in East San Jose

San Jose police are investigating the city's 13th homicide of 2014 - a mother of three who was stabbed to death in the middle of the afternoon.

At about 2:56 p.m. Tuesday, police received a report of an injured person at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Jose Figueres in East San Jose, several blocks south of the Regional Medical Center.

Officers responded to the area and found a woman inside an apartment suffering from at least one stab wound. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

Officials said a neighbor discovered the unresponsive woman inside a home and called 911.

Police are not releasing any details about the victim and said there are currently no suspects in custody.

Neighbors told NBC Bay Area had lived in the apartment complex for just a few months. She kept to herself and was usually seen taking walks with her baby, neighbors said.

Neighbor Mirna Luna said the woman also had twin girls.

Tuesday's homicide has area residents on edge.

The area was the scene of a Thanksgiving Day stabbing last year. Police said a man stabbed three people nearby on Luz Avenue. The victims all survived their injuries, but the suspect was fatally shot by police as he tried to get away.

NBC Bay Area's Kris Sanchez and Nannette Miranda contributed to this report.
