Woman's Body Found in Ravine near Mount Diablo State Park

She was found in a 2006 black Land Rover that had gone down an embankment.

A woman's body was found inside a vehicle at the bottom of a ravine near an entrance to Mount Diablo State Park Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department discovered the vehicle at about 11 a.m., and CHP officers in the area were notified of the fatality at about 12:30 p.m., according to the CHP.

Officers discovered a 2006 black Land Rover that had gone down a steep embankment on South Gate Road north of Mount Diablo Scenic Boulevard.

The woman was confirmed deceased at the scene, according to the CHP. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, although the CHP said that it appears that no other vehicles were involved.
