Wounded Man Shows Up at Oakland Hospital, Says He Was Shot While Driving on I-580

A shooting victim arrived at Highland Hospital in Oakland Wednesday afternoon and said he had been shot on an Oakland freeway, a police spokesman said.

Oakland police were notified at about 2:40 p.m. that the victim had walked into the hospital and said he had been shot on Interstate Highway 580 near High Street, police spokesman Officer Frank Bonifacio said.

Investigators are still working to figure out exactly where the victim was shot, Bonifacio said. His injuries were not life-threatening.

An Oakland police officer on the scene told NBC Bay Area it appears the car was hit with at least four bullets, two in the windshield and two through passenger-side windows.

Traffic on I-580 was not affected.
