Yacht Off Berkeley Marina “Taking on Water”

Another boat alongside the yacht was helping offload the passengers

The U.S. Coast Guard on Friday was sent to the waters off Berkeley after a report that a yacht with eight people, a dog, cat and snake aboard was "taking on water."

Berkeley fire crews confirmed to that the yacht was about 30 percent full of water about 12:30 p.m. and another boat alongside the yacht was helping to offload passengers about 300 feet north of the Berkeley pier.

Fire crews were on standby at the pier to help if anyone needed medical attention.

From the NBC Bay Area helicopter, it did not seem like anyone was hurt or in any danger. Two boats were seen assisting the yacht.

NBC Bay Area's Jodi Hernandez and Bay City News contributed to this report.
