A skydiver died from injuries she suffered when her parachute failed in the final seconds Friday. This happened in Hollister.
The 21-year-old woman, whose name has not yet been released, was described as a veteran skydiver. She had made more than 150 jumps prior to Friday.
It wasn't clear exactly what happened. Witnesses said everything looked normal until the woman was 50 feet from the ground. That's when her parachute began moving strangely. She free-fell those final 50 feet before hitting the ground hard. She survived the fall with critical injuries, but later died at the hospital.
