Abandoned Dog Picked Up by Mountain View Police Taken Home by Dispatcher

A sad story turned into a happy ending for a small pup on the Peninsula.

Mountain View police responded to reports of an abandoned dog at Sylvan Park Saturday morning trapped inside its cage, covered in food and droppings, according to the police department's Facebook post.

The police cleaned the pooch up and brought him into safety before a dispatcher caught a glimpse of the shy pup. She immediately fell in love and decided to take the black and brown pup home, according to the Facebook post.

The dispatcher is currently working with the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority to finalize the adoption, according to the Facebook post.

Police ask the public on the Peninsula and in the South Bay to always call Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority at (408) 764-0344 if they can no longer care for their pets.
