ACE Train Strikes Car in Livermore, Leaving 1 Dead

An Altamont Corridor Express train struck a car on the tracks in Livermore Monday morning, leaving one person in the car dead, according to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.

The collision happened around 7:50 a.m. in the area of Junction Avenue and Old First Street.

The crossing barriers along the tracks were down when the collision occurred, according to the fire department.

Passengers aboard the train involved in the collision were transferred to another ACE train, according to the transit agency.

ACE said it expects its afternoon trains to run on schedule.
