After System Pressure Drop, Water Tests Ensure Clean Drinking Water at Sonoma State University

The campus of Sonoma State University has been cleared to lift a preventative water safety measure, a Boil Notice, that was implemented on Monday. On Sunday, water pressure had dropped throughout Sonoma State's well-fed system.

The loss in pressure led California's Water Resources Control Board Division of Drinking Water to direct the university to issue the notice, order testing, and use bottled or boiled water for all drinking and cooking purposes.

Students, faculty and staff were distributed thousands of water bottles during the 48-hour testing period.

Ultimately, the water was deemed safe, though officials note that the water may be slightly cloudier in appearance, as the pressure drop may have kicked up sentiment. They reiterated, however, that it is completely safe to drink.
