AIDS Walk San Francisco Raises $2.27M

Thousands put on their walking shoes in Golden Gate Park Sunday for AIDS Walk San Francisco, which has raised $2.27 million in its 29th year.

That brings the total raised since the event began in 1986 to $86 million.

This year's proceeds are to be shared between Project Inform, which works with the HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C infected communities, and a coalition of 42 Bay Area based service organizations that help people living with HIV/AIDS.

And the total is expected to rise. Fundraising for this year's AIDS Walk San Francisco is still open through August 14.
