Airbnb Friday announced it is extending its Open House Program to help Northern California residents temporarily displaced by the floods.
The program was first activated Feb. 14 to continue helping people in Butte, Shasta and Sonoma counties, Airbnb spokeswoman Lisa Cohen said. The program has been extended to March 18.
The Open Homes Program connects local residents who have been displaced, emergency relief workers and volunteers find temporary accommodations with local Airbnb hosts who provide homes free of charge.
The program was activated during the Carr Fire in the summer of 2018, the Camp Fire in November 2018 and during the risk of mudslides in burn areas in Northern California.
