Alameda County Sheriff's Office Detains Suspect in Castro Valley Double Homicide

Alameda County sheriff's deputies have detained a suspect in a double homicide in a Castro Valley mobile home park Monday afternoon, a sheriff's sergeant said.

The two victims — a man and woman — were found in a trailer at the Chetwood Crest Mobile Home Park at about 12:30 p.m., sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.

"The deputies made entry, found two murdered people and a third person inside," Nelson said. "He was taken to the station for questioning."

Nelson could not immediately say how the two victims were killed. Officials describe the detained suspect only as a man in his 30s.

Investigators believe the victims are a couple and the person brought in for questioning is related to them. In addition, investigators recovered what they believe is the murder weapon, but are not confirming details about it because they believe that is information only the killer would know.

Neighbors said the couple had lived in the mobile home park for about 10 years.

"It's a pretty quiet trailer park," neighbor Brad Thompson said. "Everyone keeps to themselves, so it's a big deal going on right now."
