Allegedly Armed San Jose Man in Standoff With Santa Clara County Sheriff's Deputies

Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies on Wednesday morning have surrounded a home in an unincorporated pocket of Central San Jose where they believe a resident is armed with a gun, sheriff's officials said.

A man assaulted his father, prompting the standoff around 9:50 a.m. at a home near West San Carlos Street and Raymond Avenue, near the Burbank neighborhood, Sgt. Rich Glennon said.

Deputies believe the suspect is in the home alone. His family said he was armed with a gun, according to Glennon, who said at 11:10 a.m. that he expected the standoff to "be wrapping up soon."

People who live in the area have been asked to shelter in place.
