The seven-year-old girl kidnapped at gun point in front of her Antioch house overnight was found safe late Friday night with the suspect behind bars, according to police.
Police said the suspect, David Allen Douglas, was arrested on Marina Place about a block away from the police department. He was with the missing girl.
A woman alerted officers by honking her horn after she saw Douglas acting suspiciously in the back seat of a car, according to police.
"I got a call from my other sister, and she's like, 'there's a missing little girl...,'" said La Shay Burke, who alerted police of the suspect. "And so...she told us what kind of car it was...We were sitting right next to a gold Toyota...I'm about to get out and see if this was the little girl."
Police said the girl was taken from her Antioch home at 6:45 p.m. Friday. The alleged kidnapper spotted the girl with her family at a Walmart and followed them to their home -- about six miles away -- on Hummingbird Drive in Antioch, according to police.
The suspect then jumped out of his car and took the girl from her mother, police said.
Police also said there was another attempted kidnapping in that same parking lot Thursday, and they said they believe Douglas was also involved in that case.
