YREKA, Calif. -- An Amber Alert was declared early Monday for a 3-year-old girl who was allegedly taken during a burglary in Yreka, the California Highway Patrol said.

The Alert went statewide by mid-morning with Caltrans signs alerting drivers on Bay Area highways.

CHP Officer Rich Wetzel said police were looking for a green 1992 Pontiac Grand Am that has the following license plate: 3WKA651.

Authorities said Francis Ann Collins was apparently abducted at about 4:30 a.m. Monday. She was described as white and 30 to 40 pounds.

The CHP identified the alleged abductor as 22-year-old Kody Kaplon. He was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 140 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown hair.

It is not clear if the child has any relationship with Kaplon.
