Antioch Home Destroyed After Christmas Tree Catches Fire

Firefighters are warning people to throw out their Christmas trees after a family's tree caught on fire Saturday morning in Antioch.

Firefighters said the home on San Jose Drive was engulfed in flames by the time they arrived to the home. All residents were able to get out of the house safely.

Firefighters said dried-out Christmas trees could become a very dangerous hazard.

"It's a good reminder this time of the year, that when Christmas trees are starting to dry out, to get them out of the house quickly," Antioch fire Chief Eddie Gonzales said. "In the late holiday season, a lot of the fires are started that way."

No injuries were reported in the fire.
