Antioch police are trying to sort out the first homicide of the year that ended up with a Toyota Camry crashed into a garage, three people detained and a shotgun found discarded at a Chinese restaurant nearby.
About 11 p.m. on Monday, Police Sgt. Tom Fuhrmann said dispatchers received a call that someone had been shot.
Just about the same time, the scanner lit up with chatter that a car had smashed into a house on the corner of Mahogany Way and Spanos Street, about a mile away from where the shooting occurred and a man's body was found. That's because an officer heard the sounds of a gunshot and spotted a car speeding away without any lights on near Hudson Court, Fuhrmann said.
The driver of the car wouldn't pull over, and a chase ensued. The chase ended when Toyota Camry crashed into garage. Police said three people inside the car were detained and no one was injured, including the home owner.
About a block and a half away from Hudson Court, a shotgun was found at the Double Dragon Chinese restaurant parking lot.
No further details were released.
