At Least 2 Hurt After Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes into Food Vendors in San Jose

At least two people were hurt, one critically, after a possible drunk driver crashed into food vendors in East San Jose Saturday afternoon, police said.

Around 1:45 p.m., two cars collided into each other head-on in the area of Mt. Vista Drive and South White Road near Mount Pleasant High School, San Jose police Sgt. Heather Randol said.

The suspect tried to flee the scene, but then hit two people eating at a food stand, police said. The driver then slammed into a curb, where his car got stuck. Police caught up with him after he tried to run away, Randol said.

Two adults, one suffering injuries considered life-threatening, were transported to a hospital, she said.
