ATF Fans Out Throughout Bay Area Making Arrest

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted several raids throughout the Bay Area this morning, a special agent  said.

In Richmond, ATF action began at 6 a.m. in the 2200 block of Bissell Avenue and the 4900 block of Cutting Boulevard, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said.

The ATF also carried out raids in cities including San Francisco, Redwood City and Oakland, Special Agent Michael Hoffman said.

At least one person was arrested in San Francisco's Mission District, Hoffman said.

He could not discuss the number of warrants served or the charges those arrested will face, but he did say the suspects are scheduled to make  an initial appearance in federal court in San Francisco at 1:30 p.m. today

He also said the U.S. Attorney's Office might have a news conference later this afternoon on the operation.
